Soap Making Workshop

** Every student that signs up for this class will receive a free goody bag containing soapmaker treats, such as fragrance oil, colorant, and other fun stuff. **

In this class you’ll learn about two methods of soapmaking: cold process and melt & pour. Melt & pour is gateway soap: it’s easy, safe, and a great way to get started. However, most of the class will be focused on making soap using the cold process method.

You will learn about the science of turning fat and lye into all natural soap with ingredients you can find at the grocery store. This is a hands-on class, so you will be making your own soap to take home. Each student will go home with one pound (approximately four bars) of cold process soap and at least one bar of melt & pour soap. (If you purchase a demo ticket, you will not be able to actually make soap in class or take any home. You will be able to observe the class, though, and will receive all handouts.)

Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes and long sleeves since we will be handling lye. This class is not recommended for anyone under 18. Class size is limited.

This class will be taught by Rachel Mullen.

Rachel Mullen, also known as the Compulsive Lyer, is the owner of Music City Suds in Nashville. She has been creating handmade bath and body products for five years. She specializes in products for sensitive skin.
